Dynamic yet serene, a moment of tenderness between humpback mother and calf captured from the ocean.
Humpback whale numbers have greatly increased following a ban on commercial whaling. They represent all the good humanity can do and the hope we can reverse some of our human impact on the creatures we cohabitate with.
Moving the free flowing paint around with lots of water has created the texture and patterning of the water background. Upon this almost abstract ground the whales sit looking solid and real to life. Mother whale looks at you as you take in all the organic shapes around her and her calf. Whales have an unmistakable presence and grace in the water that is replicated here.
This piece is ideal for a coastal property or anyone who loves snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing and being in and around the ocean.
Let your thoughts drift away as you watch this beautiful scene on a vibrant and relaxing blue background.
This artwork is commanding on a wall and has been created on a solid timber base, which has been boxed out to provide a natural 3cm edge. It is substantial and weighty. Please feel free to message me at mjktberry@bigpond.com if you require more information.
If you love this piece but the size isn't quite right for your interior, I'm happy to create a similar piece to suit.
