As I snorkel over coral reefs sometimes I'm lucky to come across a patch of coloured coral. Purples mix with pinks and mauves to create an image that makes me feel the ocean is blushing. I've blended many layers and colours in this piece to provide the energy and glow that living coral has underwater. I'm always enthralled by large schools of Blue Damselfish as they flit in and out of their coral homes. Cool and warm at the same time there is a sense of energy tempered by the peace and tranquillity of water. For this piece I have used my own reference photos to create the composition which includes black sea urchins, corals and damselfish.
